One of the most powerful things I’ve ever learned is the importance of creating balance and a sense of well roundedness. More than excellence in any one area of our lives. I’ve learned, through experience, that an overall sense of balance is the actual key to creating a life worth living.
The importance of Wellness and Balance is something that every person should strive to achieve. An unhealthy physical body will cause you to experience fatigue, pain, and subtle symptoms. Those who practice wellness focus on proper nutrition and regular exercise, personal hygiene, sleep habits, and saying no to unhealthy practices. They have a positive attitude and strive to lead an active life. But it’s not easy to achieve balance in all of these areas.
I often look at the lives of others, and I asked myself, How big is this person’s life? How much have they filled it with the diverse people and things and experiences and activities that make them whole? In a sense, I like to think about the idea of a life footprint and to measure the breadth and depth of a person’s meaningful life as a powerful way to achieve emotional and psychological wellness and balance.
Well, according to the World Health Organization, wellness is an active process of becoming aware and making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life.
A state of complete physical, mental, emotional wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Balance is defined as a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. Living a Balanced Life has a pleasant sound to it, doesn’t it? For most of us, this is easier said than done.
Emotional Wellness involves the ability to cope well with everyday situations and challenges. People who maintain emotional wellness have a good sense of self-control. They also have good coping mechanisms for difficult situations. A balanced life is one that is full of joy, excitement, and happiness. It is also important to develop an awareness of emotions and how to express them. This helps a person express their full range of emotions.
Achieving a balance between work and life is essential to a healthy and happy life. While work is important for earning money and building something new, it must not take over your life. In order to achieve that balance, we must be aware of our drives. We often have too high a work drive and become a workaholic. An insatiable work drive is a symptom of disturbance. It is not a healthy lifestyle.
If you’re like most of us, you’re involved in so many things that create a more complicated lifestyle than your parents or grandparents could have ever imagined. You enjoy taking advantage of new opportunities, even though that sometimes throws our life way out of balance.
For individuals wanting a higher quality of life. Achieving a state of balance and wellness helps to create a sense of peace. This calm feeling makes it unnecessary to throw ourselves into excesses like crazy amounts of food or alcohol, drugs, poor and showy material possessions.
In terms of health, wellness is a combination of physical and mental wellness. Physical health is essential for survival, but emotional wellness is vital for the soul. Psychological and social wellbeing are essential for overall well-being. For instance, mental health is not just about your mood. You must understand your emotions and how to deal with them in your life. Besides, it will also help you to live a fulfilling life.
Serenity brings joy, in moderation, and brings us back to balance.
In terms of physical wellness, it is essential to have a balanced mind. The right physical environment will improve your mental health. You will feel more alert, motivated, and more content. A healthy mind leads to a happy life. In addition, your body will feel healthier and more energetic. You will be able to focus better in your daily life when your mind is healthy. It is essential to have a strong sense of self-awareness.
It’s a cycle, calm makes for moderation and this peaceful balance decreases the drama and the stress, making room for more calm. When a person’s wellness is heightened, so too is their ability to be productive in all phases of their lives, relationships, home, work, friends, leisure loved ones, and it’s all in proper proportion.
That is, until they are not again, no one’s life stays steady all the time. But with an intention for wellness, we check in with ourselves on how we’re doing in terms of life balance. Intentionally creating a meaningful life allows for adequate time for the activities that express our values and our priorities, and this is one that we strive for. But also we want peace.
There are a few key actions that help us find meaning and to balance our lives. The first is to reflect, come to know and respect each of the important areas of our lives.
What is working, where our voids, this will be discussed later. For now, just notice what is feeling right in your life and what is feeling chaotic or out of balance. You probably already know. But is it important enough for you to do something about it?
Now that we’re embarking on the real, tangible changes in your life, we’d like to inspire you with this incredible quote from Jeneen Roth, who said:
The most difficult part of changing how you live is believing that change is possible. It takes a fierce kind of love for yourself.
